Two people hospitalized after crashing into median on I-95 South in Chesterfield

UPDATE: All lanes are open and the scene is clear.
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people were hospitalized after police say they crashed into the median of Interstate 95 South in Chesterfield County on Thursday.
Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, troopers with Virginia State Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on I-95 southbound at mile marker 59, between Old Bermuda Hundred and Ruffin Mill roads.
State police determined that a SUV ran off the road and into the median.

Both the driver and passenger of the SUV were taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

At one point, both the left and southbound lanes of I-95 in the area were closed and there were nearly two miles of backups, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). However, the scene has since been cleared.
