RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Police Department has released a final review breaking down the 2023 Huguenot High School graduation shooting at the Altria Theater.
The review was released following an inquiry from 8News and the Commonwealth's Attorney's announcement that no further criminal charges would be pursued in connection with the incident.

Seven people were shot and many others were injured during the incident, including a 9-year-old girl who was hit by a fleeing driver. Two of those seven shooting victims –18-year-old graduate Shawn Jackson and his stepfather, 36-year-old Smith — died as a result of their injuries.
According to the review, four of the five people who were injured by gunfire during the incident had bullet fragments that were not suitable for forensic comparison and were not able to be matched with any other firearms as a result.
One of the victims, known as "Injured individual 3," got on the ground to protect his son and was hit while on the ground. The individual injured stated that he thinks he was hit by a ricochet. The fragment he was hit by was later recovered at VCU Medical Center.

"A witness stated that she saw Renzo Smith chase after Amari Pollard and shoot into the ground," Police Chief Rick Edwards said in the review. "[The] witness felt Smith did this because he was afraid Pollard would return and shoot Jackson again."
"Injured individual 2" was shot in the right leg, with fragments recovered from Chippenham Hospital. Police also deemed these frgaments not suitable for comparison.
