UVA Basketball Coach Tony Bennett to retire
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Tony Bennett, head coach for the University of Virginia's (UVA) Men's Basketball team, will retire just months after signing a contract extension. Bennett, who led the Cavaliers to their first and only NCAA National Championship in 2019, had been coaching the team since 2009 and signed a contract extension in June which would have kept him with the team until at least 2030. According to the university, Bennett will officially announce his retirement at a press conference at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18.
