VCU to host college visit for students with disabilities near end of March

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Near the end of March, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) will be hosting a college visit for those with disabilities.

On Thursday, March 27, more than 75 students with disabilities will be on VCU's campus for what, according to the university, is a more accessible college visit. The visit will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes:

  • Informational sessions with current VCU students
  • A campus tour
  • Lunch in the dining hall

The event comes after a collaborative effort with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia GEAR UP Virginia program. According to Virginia GEAR UP, "the program works with schools all across the state to promote postsecondary readiness and success."

The university's Center on Transition Innovations and ACE-IT in College worked with GEAR UP to coordinate this visit.
