Victim identified in deadly Greensville crash
GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a crash that occurred on Friday, Nov. 15, that left one man dead.
Crews were dispatched at 8:51 a.m. to respond to a crash on Interstate 95 at mile marker 12 on Saturday, Nov. 15, in Greensville County.
According to police, the preliminary investigation shows a 2005 Volvo XC90 driving southbound when it went off of the right side of the road. The vehicle then overcorrected and went off of the left side of the road and hit a guardrail overturning and leaving it on the passenger side.
62-year-old passenger, Rufus. J Whitaker of Washington, D.C. has been identified as the victim in this deadly crash. According to police, Whitaker "was partially ejected. Whitaker died at the scene."
The driver is 54-year-old Brenda L. Bullock of Washington, D.C. Bullock suffered serious injuries. and was med-flighted to an area hospital.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) states that lanes are now open, and the scene is clear.
According to VSP this crash still remains under investigation.
