Virginia among top 5 candy cane-loving states nationwide

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Whether you're dipping them in your hot cocoa or putting them on your tree, candy canes are a holiday staple for many -- but recent data shows that Virginians are some of the biggest candy cane fanatics nationwide.

Brach's took a look at 2024 purchase data for mint candy canes throughout America to determine which states love candy canes the most.

Virginia came in fourth place, with its fondness for this iconic holiday treat only rivaled by Oklahoma, Alabama and South Carolina.

Some of the Commonwealth's neighbors, Kentucky and Tennessee, are also among candy canes' top fans, coming in sixth and eighth, respectively.
