Virginia among top 5 Halloween-obsessed U.S. states
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia is among the top five Halloween-obsessed states in the U.S., according to Consumer Affairs.
Virginia came in fifth, climbing up 33 spots from its previous ranking of 38th in 2024. According to the study, this jump is in part due to Virginia having the highest search volume of Halloween music in the nation.
Virginia also has some of the highest-ranking searches for pumpkin spice lattes.
Ohio landed just one place above Virginia at number four due to the state's high number of haunted sites, such as Face Your Fears Hotel of Terror in Springfield and Fear Columbus in the capital.
According to the study, Ohio also ranks close to the top in Halloween candy searches.
Topping off the list is New Hampshire at number 1 for a second consecutive year, according to the analysis.
New Hampshire has the highest Spirit Halloween stores per capita and is also home to new Halloween-themed stores in Salem this year. The state also has the second-highest number of pumpkin patches in the nation, according to the analysis.
