Virginia Democratic official accused of distributing child sexual abuse material to be arraigned

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Virginia Democratic official who is being accused of distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) will be arraigned on Monday.

Thirty-year-old Randon Sprinkle, who was arrested back in December 2025 for allegedly distributing CSAM, will appear in court on Monday, Jan. 12.

Sprinkle allegedly messaged an undercover FBI agent on the online dating application, Jack’d, under the alias “Randy,” according to court records filed in the Eastern District of Virginia.

According to a Jan. 9 release from the Department of Justice (DOJ), Sprinkle alluded to a sexual interest in minors and allegedly sent a video depicting two adults sexually abusing a minor.

The department said Sprinkle then allegedly expressed his interest in travelling to Washington, D.C., to meet the other user and sexually abuse his son.

On Oct. 16, 2025, FBI agents searched his Richmond home and seized three of his electronic devices. His cellphone allegedly contained 42 CSAM files and one of the laptops contained two additional files.

“The allegations in this case are deeply disturbing and reflect a serious abuse of trust,” said Lindsey Halligan, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. “When someone who has held a professional role in public or political life engages in the sexual exploitation of children, it underscores why no position, title, or resume can shield an offender from accountability. This office will pursue full accountability for those who exploit children, regardless of their background, job, or perceived status.”

Sprinkle was elected to the Metro Richmond Young Democrats executive board this year as treasurer and worked as a finance chairman of the Virginia Democratic Party, according to the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP).

Sprinkle's arraignment is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, in Richmond.

If Sprinkle is convicted, he could face a minimum of five years and up to 20 years in prison.

A federal district court judge will determine sentencing after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors, per the DOJ.
