Virginia man sentenced to 10 years for trafficking cocaine while traveling from Nevada

LOUDON COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Virginia man was sentenced in federal court on Thursday for trafficking cocaine while traveling from Nevada to Virginia.

On Thursday, Sept. 4, 34-year-old Kareem Strong of Ashburn was sentenced by a U.S. District Judge to 10 years in federal prison without parole after officers seized one kilogram of cocaine from his possession.

He had been found illegally possessing over a kilogram of cocaine while traveling from Nevada to Virginia by the Kansas City Bus Terminal, per the U.S. Attorney's Office.

On Dec. 13, 2023, authorities found Strong at a Kansas City bus station with a black backpack containing a heat-sealed brick of white powder and a "ROLEX" imprint on it.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Strong and another unidentified person were traveling from Nevada to Virginia when they were found and arrested by task force members.

After the brick was submitted to the Kansas City Police Crime Laboratory for testing, authorities said it weighed 1,004.73 grams and contained cocaine in the salt form.
