Virginia State Police announce support after Texas announces ‘A Day of Prayer’ following flood

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- In a post on Facebook, Virginia State Police (VSP) has released a statement stating that they are mourning the loss of the victims in the tragic Texas floods.

In the post, VSP goes on to say "Our hearts go out to the first responders having to deal with this immense tragedy."

This comes after Texas Governor Greg Abbott, signed off on a Proclamation by the state to make Sunday, June 6, an official "Day of Prayer" for the state.

"I urge all Texans of all faiths and religious traditions and backgrounds to offer prayers on that day for the healing of individuals safety of our first responders and public safety officers, rebuilding of communities and restoration of the region struck by this disaster," stated Governor Abbott.
