Virginia State Police seize 27 guns, thousands of fentanyl pills in statewide operation
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police seized 27 firearms and 8,973 fentanyl pills, along with other evidence, as part of an ongoing statewide investigation into illegal weapons, narcotics and human trafficking.
From April 24 to April 30, state police and other law enforcement agencies continued their investigation into multiple crimes across the state, including the recovery of firearms and narcotics, as well as efforts to address human trafficking.
VSP recover firearms, seize nearly $5 million in drugs during April operation
According to state police, the following is a summary of highlights from the investigation:
Firearm Recovery
- 27 firearms total were recovered at the value of $14,000
Narcotics Seizure
- Total of 23.2 lbs of seized narcotics, as well as 9,028 controlled substance pills
- Denied revenue of seized narcotics were valued at $583,864
- Narcotics recovered: 5.93 lbs of Cocaine, 3.1 lbs of Crack Cocaine, 13.3 lbs of Marijuana, 3.2 lbs of Methamphetamine, 1.4 oz of Heroine and 8,973 Fentanyl Pills
- $118,866 in U.S. currency seized
Explosive Devices Seized
- One explosive device was safely recovered and offset
Homicide Investigation
- VSP conducted one homicide case investigation during this operation.
Gaming Enforcement
- 16 gaming-related tips were received — 1,478 total to-date
Human Trafficking Investigations
- 34 new human trafficking tips — 877 total to-date
- Investigations conducted: 211 cases currently under investigation, 62 victims identified and offered services and 2,783 individual investigative activities.
Virginia State Police said the mission of this operation is to enhance public safety and disrupt criminal enterprises. As a result, they collaborate with local, state and federal agencies to keep communities safe statewide.
