Virginia State Police seize over $721,000 worth of narcotics in about three weeks

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police troopers seized more than $721,000 worth of illegal narcotics in about three weeks.

The operation, which is a partnership with local and federal agencies, seized 84.4 pounds of narcotics valued at $721,523 between Wednesday, Dec. 17 to Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Thirteen firearms were recovered, valued at $8,000 and 13,905 controlled substance pills, per police.

Police shared the following is a breakdown of the recovered narcotics:

  • 1.5 pounds of cocaine
  • 4.8 pounds of crack cocaine
  • 78 pounds of marijuana
  • 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 10,880 methamphetamine pills
  • 2 pounds of psilocybin
  • 6.9 ounces of fentanyl
  • 4,010 fentanyl pills
  • 54 THC Vapes

Virginia State Police initiated an investigation into one homicide case during this operation.

Troopers also received 18 new human trafficking tips, totaling 1,436. There are 211 cases either being investigated or currently under investigation, according to police.

Authorities said 3,713 individual investigative activities are currently underway, with 77 victims identified and offered service.
