Virginia State wins at home against Lincoln, securing winning season
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The defense of the Virginia State Trojans held the Lincoln Lions to only 14 points in a 35-14 win at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans improve to 6-3 on the season and 4-2 in CIAA, while the Lions are still without a win. Saturday's victory also secures a winning season for the Trojans under Head Football Coach Dr. Henry Frazier III.
Quarterback Rahsaan Matthews Jr. accounted for nearly 350 yards of offense, 272 yards in the air and 67 yards on the ground, and threw four touchdown passes. Cornerback Quedrion Miles led the defense with bringing in four tackles and one interception.
Saturday's win against the Lions gives the Trojans their fourth straight win of the season.
Virginia State will be back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 against Virginia Union.
