Virginia’s average price for regular gas rises 11 cents overnight, AAA says
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The average price of regular gasoline throughout Virginia rose 11 cents overnight, reflecting a similar national trend, according to AAA.
The average price for regular gasoline in Virginia as of Tuesday, March 3, was about $2.94 per gallon, reflecting an increase of about 11 cents from an average of $2.83 per gallon on Monday, March 2, AAA's data shows.
The Associated Press reported a similar national trend on Tuesday, as the average price per gallon jumped 11 cents overnight in the U.S.
The Richmond area saw an increase overnight from an average of $2.87 to $3.02 per gallon, according to AAA.
Of all localities in Central Virginia, Richmond saw the highest average gas prices on Tuesday, with $2.93 per gallon.
On average, Virginians are paying less for regular gas than the national average, which was about $3.11 per gallon as of Tuesday.
AP reported that gas prices were already rising before the U.S. launched strikes on Iran.
