Wanted 58-year-old Dyke man faces multiple charges after vehicle pursuit

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 58-year-old Dyke man is facing multiple charges following a vehicle pursuit in Albemarle County on Saturday, with police also believing he ran away from authorities on at least two other occasions.
At 5:38 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, an Albemarle County Police Department officer traveling in the area of Seminole Trail and Rio Road of the county saw a wanted suspect driving a vehicle.
According to police, a vehicle pursuit was initiated on Seminole Trail northbound after the suspect vehicle did not yield.
During the pursuit, officers tried to stop the vehicle. In the Earlysville area of the county, the suspect, identified as a 58-year-old Jeffrey Shifflett of Greene County's Dyke area, exited the moving vehicle and ran away on foot.
Shifflett was taken into custody without further incident following a brief pursuit.
Shifflett was arrested on outstanding warrants for shoplifting and felony eluding. Police believe he also ran away from law enforcement on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and Monday, Oct. 13.
He faces three counts of felony eluding, three counts of driving without a license, felony property damage and additional traffic infractions, according to police.
Shifflett is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
