Wanted man arrested in South Hill after over 6 pounds of marijuana seized in search warrant
MECKLENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A wanted man was arrested in the town of South Hill on Wednesday after officers seized over six pounds of marijuana and over $2,000 during a search of a home.
At about 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, officers with the South Hill Police Department -- as well as the U.S. Marshals Service and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office -- arrested Derrick Leon House Jr. in the 600 block of Lombardy Street within the town of South Hill.
According to the South Hill Police Department, House was wanted by authorities on multiple charges, including possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while subject to a protective order, reckless handling of a firearm and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
House was wanted by Dinwiddie County for robbery and by the city of Colonial Heights for robbery using force. Police said he was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at a local home as part of this investigation. Officers reported that more than six pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a firearm with ammunition and over $2,000 in cash were seized.
Officials confirmed another person was arrested, but their identity is not being released as of the time of reporting due to "the ongoing nature of the case."
Police continue to investigate. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, according to police.
