18-year-old arrested, charged in connection to Christmas Eve burglary in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- The Petersburg Bureau of Police has arrested an 18-year-old man in connection to a Christmas Eve burglary at a business. Petersburg Police has arrested 18-year-old Devon Jones in connection to a burglary that took place on South Sycamore Street on Christmas Eve. At around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, Petersburg Police officers responded to the 900 block of South Sycamore Street for the report of a suspicious incident. When officers arrived on scene, they saw a person running from the area and found that a nearby business had been burglarized. According to police, officers located the suspect who was seen running from the area, identified as Jones, and found him to be in possession of items that were taken from the business. Jones was arrested and charged with grand larceny, eluding, burglary and conspiring to commit a felony.
