18-year-old critically injured after shooting in Mechanicsville

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One person is critically injured after a shooting on Bell Creek Road in Mechanicsville last night.

At 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, officers with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office responded to the 7200 block of Bell Creek Road.

Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old man who had been shot in the parking lot. They applied chest seals and first aid until Hanover Fire and EMS arrived.

The victim was then transported to a hospital, where he underwent surgery. He remains in critical condition, per officials.

Police said before the shooting, two different groups of males had an altercation inside the business on Bell Creek Road, leading to multiple firearms being displayed.

The altercation then took to the parking lot and multiple shots were fired. The suspects, who police believe are not Hanover residents, fled before officers arrived.
