18-year-old shot, dies after being dropped off by unknown driver at Richmond hospital

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- An 18-year-old Richmond man died after police said he was dropped off with a gunshot wound at a local hospital by an unknown driver who then left the area. At 11:48 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to Chippenham Hospital in the city's Southside after an unknown driver dropped off an 18-year-old man before leaving the area. Police identified the man who was dropped off as John Kelson, Jr., who had an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead by medical personnel shortly after he arrived. Police have determined that the shooting occurred in the 3400 block of Walmsley Boulevard. Detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Major Crimes Detective G.
