43-year-old arrested, accused of setting Chesterfield house on fire
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with arson after a Tuesday morning house fire in Chesterfield County. At about 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, crews with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS responded to a call for a structure fire in the 500 block of Wellshire Place. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found smoke and fire in a second-story bedroom. It was quickly extinguished and contained to the room. According to fire officials, the cause of the fire has been ruled as arson. Chesterfield man suspected to be under the influence goes wrong way on I-64 Before firefighters arrived, officers with the Chesterfield Police Department removed the suspect -- 43-year-old Mondaine Brown -- from the roof of the home. He was then arrested and charged with one count of burning an occupied dwelling. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail.
