46-year-old identified as bicyclist killed in West Broad Street collision
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 46-year-old Richmond man was identified as the bicyclist killed in a collision on West Broad Street in Richmond on Thursday afternoon.
At 3:28 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1500 block of West Broad Street for a reported collision.
When officers arrived, they found an unconscious man -- identified as 46-year-old James Boggs, Jr. of Richmond -- down on the ground.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died due to his injuries.
An investigation from the Richmond Police Department Crash Team determined that a dark colored sedan had been driving southbound on Bowe Street.
The sedan then attempted to take a right turn onto West Broad Street and hit Boggs, a bicyclist riding eastbound on Broad Street crossing Bowe Street.
As of the time of reporting, the driver has been charged with failure to stop for a pedestrian at a crosswalk.
