46-year-old Richmond man dies after being hit by car while trying to cross Walmsley Boulevard
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 46-year-old man has died after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a road in Richmond Tuesday night.
At 10:52 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, Richmond Police officers were called to the 4700 block of Walmsley Boulevard for the report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man -- identified as 46-year-old Enrique Caal Juc, of Richmond -- down and unresponsive in the roadway.
According to police, Caal Juc was taken to a local hospital, where officials said he later died on the morning of Wednesday, April 16, due to his injuries.
The Richmond Police Department's Crash Team responded to the scene and determined Caal Juc, who was reportedly not on a crosswalk, was crossing Walmsley Boulevard eastbound when a vehicle traveling northbound hit him.
Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and, at this time, no charges have been filed.
