71-year-old motorcyclist thrown from bike, killed in Chesterfield crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield County Police Department has identified a 71-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a crash about a mile away from Matoaca High School on the day after Christmas. Officers responded to the 5300 block of Woodpecker Road for a motor vehicle crash around 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26. Upon their arrival, police found a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist who had been thrown from their bike. The driver -- identified as Frankie L. Thomas, 71, of the 9600 block of Kathleen Drive -- was pronounced dead at the scene. The Chesterfield County Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.
