8News talks to Flying Squirrels about CarMax Park move

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from a special guest on Monday to talk about the countdown to the Flying Squirrels' opening night at CarMax Park.

8News anchors Autumn Childress and Madison Moore were joined by the Squirrels' general manager, Anthony Opperman, to talk about some of the changes people will notice in the CarMax Park layout compared to The Diamond.

"No matter where you're at within the venue, you're going to have a tremendous view of the field," Opperman said. "You're going to feel connected to the game, feel connected to the entertainment experience."

With just three weeks left until opening night on April 7, Opperman also talked about the excitement surrounding the kickoff for the 2026 season.
