Adoptable pup from Richmond Animal League pays 8News a visit
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- For 8News’ Spirit of the Season series, we're highlighting holiday events in the Richmond area. On Thursday, an adoptable dog from Richmond Animal League (RAL) and staff paid a visit to the studio to discuss their Operation Silent Night adoption event. In the morning on Thursday, Dec. 12, 8News Anchors Delaney Hall and Autumn Childress spoke with RAL staff to hear what the event is all about. Also in the studio was Guava, a dog that's up for adoption. Operation Silent Night spans from Nov. 29 through Dec. 19, and it allows folks to adopt a new furry friend at a discounted rate of $10. During the event, hours are extended, with adoptions open between 1 and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 5 p.m. on weekends. RAL is located at 11401 International Drive in Richmond. (Photo: Catherine Wells/8News)(Photo: Catherine Wells/8News)(Photo: Catherine Wells/8News)(Photo: Catherine Wells/8News) RAL said this has been a particularly challenging year around the holidays, as there has been an influx of pets coming to the shelter, so this event is intended to help find them homes. Pets that are not adopted during Operation Silent Night will spend the holidays in a foster home. Those interested in being one such foster home can apply here.
