‘Armed and dangerous’ man wanted in connection to Albemarle County shooting

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man that police are considering to be "armed and dangerous" is wanted out of Albemarle County in connection to a shooting that took place on Pine Haven Court Tuesday evening.

According to the Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD), officers were dispatched at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15 for the report of a larceny in the 1100 block of Pine Haven Court.

A woman had reported to police that her firearm was taken by her husband, identified as 53-year-old Anthony L. Lee Sr., and she claimed he would not return it.

Police said that when they arrived, Lee allegedly shot a man "inside of a residence" and began to fire at the officers. An officer then shot back at Lee, prompting him to go back into his residence and escape on foot. No officers were injured during the shooting, according to police.

The man who had been shot was taken to the University of Virginia Hospital with injuries considered serious but non-life-threatening.

Police also said that Lee and the victim are known to each other, and the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident.

Police obtained the following felony warrants for Lee: malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Officials said there is the possibility of additional charges as the investigation continues.

According to police, Lee should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information about his location is urged to call 911.

Lee is described by police as a 53-year-old Black male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing at 5 feet and 11 inches.
