Brunswick vape shops raided for suspected illegal drugs

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two Brunswick County vape shops were raided as part of an illegal drug distribution investigation.

The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office and the Lawrenceville Police Department began investigating a Brunswick vape shop, 3M Tobacco and Vape on W. Hicks Street, after a robbery took place there.

According to authorities, "possible illegal drug-related items [or] products" were stolen from the vape shop while employees and other citizens were in the store.

Investigators reportedly carried out controlled undercover drug buys from both this vape shop and another shop, Cali Tobacco and Vape in Brunswick Square. Authorities said these buys confirmed that illegal substances were present at the stores.

At about 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, authorities simultaneously executed search warrants at both vape shops. All involved employees fully cooperated with investigators.

"Illegal drug-related items, products and packaging were seized and are being sent to the Department of Forensic Science lab in Richmond for further testing," authorities said.

No charges have been filed as of the time of reporting, as both the robbery and the illegal drug distribution investigations are still pending.
