Building materials stolen from Brunswick County school site
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- After building materials were stolen from a school build site in Brunswick County, the sheriff's office is investigating. At 6:28 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, Brunswick County Sheriff's Office deputies and investigators were alerted to a possible trespassing and burglary situation at the school built location. After deputies arrived, they found several cut locks and cables on gates and storage units along with a vehicle that was left inside the fenced area. Officials said the area was searched, but no suspects were found. The vehicle was towed and processed for evidence. After contacting the construction project manager and taking a full inventory of materials, the sheriff's office said it was determined that a large number of new spools of electrical wire, new plumbing-related piping and numerous other building materials were stolen. The sheriff's office said it's believed that several people and vehicles were possibly involved in this theft, including a large U-Haul truck. Anyone who saw anything in the area, especially a large Uhaul truck after dark on Saturday, Dec. 15 through Monday morning around 3:30 a.m. or has any information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 434-848-3133. Anyone who lives or works on Planters Road, Lawrenceville Plank Road or Poor House Road and has private cameras that cover public roads and is willing to allow officials to look at them regarding the theft is asked to contact Captain Joey Lopresti at 434-848-3133.
