Chesterfield kids asked to write about their favorite older adults for essay contest
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County is asking some of its younger residents to write about an older adult they love for Older Americans Month -- and the best essay will win a prize.
Chesterfield kids between the ages of 8 and 12 years old are invited to enter the county's "Older Americans Month Essay Contest."
Those who would like to enter are asked to write a one-page essay about their favorite person who is 60 years old or older. According to the county, the essay should explain how that older adult positively influences the child and include stories of their time spent together.
2025 BLK RVA Community awards nominations are now open
The child who writes the winning essay will be honored during the county's upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting on May 28. They will also receive a $25 gift card.
Completed essays should be either emailed to AgingResources@chesterfield.gov or mailed to 9800 Government Center Parkway by Friday, May 16.
