d’Annam Restaurant brings Vietnamese flavors to Richmond area
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A new restaurant has opened its doors in Henrico County's West End, bringing authentic Vietnamese flavors with French culinary techniques to the area.
d'Annam Restaurant, located at 7501 W. Broad St., officially opened on Feb. 3. According to its website, the restaurant prides itself on being the only local Vietnamese restaurant that crafts its own noodles from scratch.
Like its menu, the name "d'Annam" reflects Vietnamese cultural heritage and cuisine with French influence. "Annam" refers to an ancient name of central Vietnam during the French Indochina era, while "d'" means "of" in French. The name can also be interpreted phonetically as "Dân Nam," meaning "People of the South" in Vietnamese, according to the restaurant's website.
Guests can find popular traditional Vietnamese dishes such as pho, banh mi, spring rolls and rice plates at d'Annam.
"At d'Annam, our cuisine honors authentic Vietnamese flavors, crafted with care, balance, and depth while celebrating the timeless techniques and soulful dishes that have been passed down through generations," the restaurant wrote in a social post.
The restaurant told 8News that guests can expect more items added to the currently limited menu in the future, as d'Annam works to "fine-tune [its] process" and help staff members "get fully comfortable."
d'Annam is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
