Donate school supplies to Henrico students through backpack drive
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Help Henrico County students prepare for the 2025-26 school year by participating in a backpack drive on Friday.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, July 18, Mad Science of Central Virginia will host a backpack and school supply drive at 11551 Nuckols Road, Suite J.
Attendees are asked to bring backpacks or school supplies to fill donated backpacks with.
The backpacks should be 15-inch for elementary students and 17-inch for middle and high school students.
Each bag will ideally be filled with the following supplies:
- Two composition books or spiral notebooks
- Two plastic folders
- One pack of dry-erase markers
- One 24-pack of Crayola crayons
- One 10-pack of Crayola markers
- One pencil bag
- Four pencils
- One pencil sharpener
- Two glue sticks
- Child-safe scissors
These backpacks, once filled, will be handed out to students at Henrico County Public Schools' Back-to-School Kickoff event on Thursday, July 31.
If you can't make it to Friday's backpack drive, you can still donate by dropping off supplies Mondays through Thursdays at the Oak Avenue Complex, located at 15 S. Oak Avenue.
