Driver dead, another hurt after head-on crash in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A driver is dead and another is in the hospital after a head-on crash in Chesterfield County on Thursday.

The crash took place just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 in the 11900 block of Bailey Bridge Road, according to the Chesterfield County Police Department.

Investigators determined that a Chevrolet truck driven by an unidentified man was moving east on Bailey Bridge Road when it crossed the center line and hit a Dodge Ram truck moving west head-on.

The driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene, according to police. His identity is being withheld until his family can be notified.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Bailey Bridge Road is closed in both directions as of the time of reporting. It will remain closed until about 10 p.m., per police.
