Drivers to see delays on Norris Bridge next week
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Drivers may see delays while crossing the Robert O. Norris Bridge next week due to work being done for a structural project.
From Monday, July 14, to Saturday, July 19, Norris Bridge will be reduced to one-way alternating traffic for a maintenance project that will replace and strengthen parts of the bridge's structural steel, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) release.
The closures will happen between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Monday through Friday, and from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday night through Saturday morning. Automated flagging devices, operated by crew members, will direct traffic through the work zone, VDOT said.
This construction is part of a $7.1 million maintenance project that aims to maintain and strengthen the Norris Bridge. Work on the project started earlier this year, and VDOT said it is expected that all structural steel repairs to be finished by September 2026.
