Emergency road repairs close part of West Clopton Street

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Drivers in Richmond should plan for detours over the next two weeks as the city conducts emergency utility work near the intersection of Wise Street and West Clopton Street.

Starting Friday, July 18, crews with the City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU) began an emergency cavitation repair in the 00 block of West Clopton Street. The project will also implement stormwater system improvements in the area.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 1. Traffic control measures are in place to reroute vehicles around the closure during these hours.

The city said the repairs are necessary to address underground infrastructure issues and improve long-term stormwater drainage.
