Explore 200 years of Virginian Christmas traditions at Wilton House Museum
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- "Keeping Christmas: 200 years of Virginian Traditions" is a special holiday event, that will be coming to Wilton House Museum in Richmond this weekend. The event will be on Friday, Dec.13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, with one-hour time slots from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The tour will explore the Christmas season through many different generations celebrated by past Virginians. "See the lavish table spread for the Randolph family’s Twelfth Night ball, discover the Victorian origins of stockings and Santa Claus, and learn about the important role music played in the celebrations of free and enslaved Black Virginians," a description of the online event page reads. When the tour is over there will be hot cider and 18th-century-style jumble cookies offered as a snack.
