Fire blazes from Richmond convenience store connected to gas station
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A fire blazed from a convenience store connected to a Citgo gas station in Richmond's Southside early Wednesday morning. The Richmond Department of Fire and EMS said the call came in at 2:34 on Wednesday, Nov. 20 for a fire at a Citgo gas station, located at 4307 Richmond Highway in the city's Southside. Both Richmond Fire and Chesterfield Fire responded to the call, according to authorities. Officials said the fire began in the Cigarette Outlet, which is the convenience store. From there, smoke spread quickly through the entire building and a hole was cut into the roof for ventilation. Bars were then cut off the front of the entry to the convenience store once crews arrived. The store owner was inside at the time and has since spoken to officials.
