Four in hospital after car hits ambulance in Henrico, causing it to flip
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Four people are in the hospital after police say a car struck an ambulance carrying a patient in Henrico County on Monday, causing it to flip. At about 12:48 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, officers with the Henrico County Police Division -- as well as crews with the Henrico County Division of Fire -- responded to the intersection of Brook and Parham roads for report of a crash involving an ambulance. According to police, those officers learned that a sedan hit an American Medical Response, Inc. (AMR) ambulance, causing it to overturn. Four people were rescued from the two involved vehicles -- three from the ambulance and one from the sedan -- and taken to area hospitals. Man stabbed to death in Richmond’s Southside A police spokesperson told 8News that the three people in the ambulance, which included two staff and one patient, had minor injuries. The person rescued from the sedan was its driver, who had injuries considered serious, but not life-threatening. The spokesperson said the driver of the ambulance will be charged with failure to obey a traffic light. Brook and Parham roads were closed for some time after the crash, but reopened as of about 2:26 p.m., according to police. No additional details are available at this time.
