GoochlandCares nonprofit purchases next door property, adding 2.4 acres
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- GoochlandCares, a nonprofit that provides services and health care to those in need, has purchased property next door to its current campus, adding 2.4 acres.
GoochlandCares announced on Friday, Aug. 22, that it had purchased new property -- 3009 River Road West -- next to its current campus at 2999 River Road West in Goochland's Courthouse area.
A spokesperson said the nonprofit's current campus spans 3.8 acres, and the new property will add 2.4 acres.
Currently on site at the new property is a 10,540 square-foot building that was originally the Bank of Goochland and then a church. The building, which was built in 1972, is reportedly unsafe for use and will be demolished beginning in September.

GoochlandCares said the demolition phase is estimated to take about two months.
The organization said the process will involve input from the Goochland community, clients, volunteers and supporters at community input sessions and surveys. Feedback will reportedly be gathered on plans for the property.
