Hanover to host ‘Clear the Shelter’ adoption event this weekend
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter has announced its first-ever "Clear the Shelter" Open House that will take place this Saturday.
People can head to the shelter, located at 12471 Taylor Complex Lane, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20 to experience local vendors, visits from Santa and The Grinch -- all while looking for the perfect adoptable dog or cat to take home.
Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter has partnered with The Lucky Paw Foundation and Doggone Good Treats to assist with sponsoring the event. Both organizations are located in Hanover, but the Lucky Paw Foundation works with shelters and rescue groups all across Virginia.
Animal Protection Chief Jeffrey S. Parker has stated that 25 dogs and 10 cats will be available for adoption with reduced fees during the open house.
There are pictures of a few of the available pets on The Lucky Paw Foundation's Facebook page.
“Our goal this weekend is to help every animal in our care head into the holidays with a family of their own,” Parker said. “Clear the Shelter events allow us to open our doors, introduce these incredible pets to the community and give them the fresh start they deserve. If you have room in your home and your heart, now is the perfect time to adopt. We’re hopeful this event will become an annual tradition.”
If you are unable to adopt a pet, the shelter is also accepting donations of toys, treats and other items through their own Amazon wish list.
