Henrico Animal Shelter hosting pop-up adoption event to free up space

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico Police Animal Shelter is holding a pop-up adoption event on Sunday to free up space, as the shelter is nearly at capacity.

The adoption event will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 13. According to the county, attendees will not only be able to take home a new dog or cat, but help out animals who may need the shelter's care in the future by freeing up shelter space.

Pamela Bridgmon, the shelter's manager, emphasized that some of the animals currently staying with the county could really use a fur-ever home.

"There are several pets who have been under our care since January,” Bridgmon said in a press release. “Our shelter is critically full, especially for dogs. Every adoption is a double win for us; a pet goes home with their new family, and we gain space to support incoming lost and stray animals.”
