Infant dies in Prince George, cause under investigation

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 20-month-old boy died in Prince George County on Monday.

At about 8:15 a.m. on Monday, March 2, both officers and emergency medical personnel were called to the 100 block of Blue Jay Street for a report of an unresponsive child.

When they arrived, first responders with Prince George Fire and EMS began life-saving measures on the child, a 20-month-old boy.

The child was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

"Detectives are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident," the Prince George Police Department said in a press release. "The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death."
