‘It’s so much damage’: Thieves steal Henrico man’s Corvette, leaving 20K in damages
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Henrico man's beloved Corvette was egged, spray-painted and damaged after police said it was stolen from his parking lot.
A Corvette -- it was Keith Kunze's dream car that he hoped to purchase again after he had to sell his first one because of his growing family. After the army veteran came back from Afghanistan, he said his dream came true when he found the car again and purchased it for his birthday.
“This car was exactly what I wanted. It was black inside, black outside, black rims. And the top came off and it was a manual," Kunze said.
The 2017 car still looked brand new in the photos he shared with 8News. However, today the car is almost unrecognizable after a turn of events on October 19, 2025. That is when he says he walked out of his Glen Allen apartment complex and couldn't find his car.
“I was sure it was somewhere in here. So I just started kind of doing loops in the community, like, oh, I must have parked it in a weird spot," Kunze said.
According to the Henrico County Police Division, the car was stolen from the 4000 block of Gaelic Lane. That same day, the Richmond Police Department told Henrico Police the vehicle was found in Scott's Addition along the 3100 block of W. Marshall Street.
Kunze said when he recovered his car it was egged, the headlights and tires were damaged and the roof was missing.

“I'm still having a hard time, like, wrapping my head around it because it's it's so it's so much damage," Kunze said.
Nearby surveillance footage captured two masked people abandoning the car in Scott's Addition and walking away.
The investigation by Henrico Police is ongoing. Detectives are looking into whether the car was used to commit other crimes.
For more than three months, the car has been covered by a tarp while Kunze tries to make repairs. He said repairs that would cost him roughly $20,000 are not covered by his insurance.
