Join 8News, Richmond leaders for RVA Illuminates in early December

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- RVA Illuminates, a beloved Richmond and 8News tradition, will once again light up the River City in early December.

8News will join city officials in flipping the switch on Richmond's more than 80,000 holiday lights on Friday, Dec. 5, in Kanawha Plaza, located at E. Canal Street and S. 7th Street.

Those who choose to take part in this festive tradition can expect wintry fun in the hours leading up to the ceremonial lighting, which will take place at 6 p.m. Friday.

8News viewers will get the chance to see several familiar faces as we illuminate the city together. This includes 8News anchors Deanna Allbrittin, Eric Phillips, Madison Moore and Heather Hope, Stormtracker8 Chief Meteorologist Matt DiNardo and 8News reporter Allison Williams.

RVA Illuminates is made possible through a partnership between WRIC 8News and the City of Richmond's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.
