Male victim found shot, injured in Powhatan after reported domestic disturbance

POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A male victim was found with a gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon after officials responded to a home in Powhatan for the report of a domestic disturbance.

At 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, deputies with the Powhatan County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home located in the 1000 block of Dorset Meadows Lane.

When deputies arrived, they found a male victim with a gunshot wound, who was then taken to a local hospital. He was conscious and in stable condition, according to officials.

Officials have not yet confirmed the age of the victim who was injured in the shooting.

Multiple other subjects were reportedly detained on scene, and officials continue to investigate. 

The sheriff's office said the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the surrounding community.
