Man arrested after police say he was in possession of narcotics, firearm during Petersburg traffic stop
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Petersburg after narcotics and a firearm were allegedly found to be in his possession during a traffic stop on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, April 17, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police stopped 30-year-old Mareke Patterson during a traffic stop in the 300 block of Britton Street, which was initiated because he was reportedly driving a vehicle without the headlights on.

According to police, Patterson, who is a convicted felon, was arrested after a firearm and narcotics were reportedly found to be in his possession.
During the traffic stop, Patterson was also found to have been driving without a license.
Patterson has been charged with the following:
- Misdemeanor eluding
- Driving with no headlights
- Driving on a revoked license
- Possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance (cocaine)
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance
- Possession of one ounce or more of marijuana
- Possession of an open container of alcohol
Authorities said Patterson was taken to Riverside Regional Jail without bond.
