Minds in Motion: Celebrating 30 years of impact in Central Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Hundreds of Central Virginia 4th graders will light up the Dominion Energy Center's stage for four special performances highlighting Richmond Ballet's Minds in Motion outreach program.

Teaching artists with the program travel to schools across the region and teach dance to 4th-grade students. Then, at the end of the year, students come together for a culminating performance in Richmond.

This year, the program is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a show called "Moving Dreams: Celebrating art, dreams and 30 years." This year's show theme is about how art influences our lives.

As a special tribute to three decades, alumni from across the country are also dancing in the shows. Many say the program was life-changing and launched their careers in the dance world.

You can catch the free shows at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, and again on Friday, April 25, also at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
