Missing Henrico woman found dead in James River over a month after disappearance
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A missing Henrico County woman who was last seen in mid-February on the Lee Bridge was found dead in the James River, according to police.
At 8:18 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the Lee Bridge after a caller told them they'd seen a Black woman standing near the bridge's railing.
When officers arrived, they found a car parked nearby that was registered to 59-year-old MaReesa Jones of Henrico County. Ten days later, on Feb. 18, a missing persons alert was issued for her.
Police previously told 8News that multiple crews were searching the James River and surrounding areas to try and find Jones. At that time, the river was flooded and contained dangerous debris.
