Multiple lane closures planned for Powhite Parkway in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- There will be multiple lane closures coming to the Powhite Parkway in Richmond to support construction for the city's upcoming transition to all-electronic tolling.

On Monday, Feb. 16, the Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority (RMTA) announced that construction for Richmond's transition to all-electronic tolling will take place on multiple dates this week for the Powhite Parkway.

RMTA said there will be triple lane closures on multiple dates on the Powhite Parkway between the James River Bridge and Forest Hill Avenue.

The dates are listed as follows:

  • Monday, Feb. 16, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Triple right lane closures on Powhite Parkway southbound
  • Monday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. to Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 4 a.m.: Alternating triple lane closures on Powhite Parkway northbound
  • Tuesday, Feb. 17, and Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Triple left lane closures on Powhite Parkway southbound
  • Saturday, Feb. 21, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.: Alternating triple lane closures on Powhite Parkway southbound

Motorists are encouraged by RMTA to pay attention to detour signs in the area and use caution while driving through work zones.
