Nearly $1.5 million worth of narcotics, 15 firearms seized in a week: Virginia State Police

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police troopers have seized nearly $1.5 million worth of illegal narcotics and 15 firearms in one week as part of their ongoing crime suppression initiative.

The operation -- which is in partnership with local and federal agencies -- led state troopers to seize 38.1 pounds of narcotics and 203 controlled substance pills, valued at $1,496,001, during the week of Wednesday, Sept. 3, to Tuesday, Sept. 9.

The following is a breakdown of the recovered narcotics:

  • 33.6 pounds of cocaine
  • 1.3 ounces of crack cocaine
  • A pound of methamphetamine
  • 2.3 pounds of marijuana
  • A pound of fentanyl
  • 100 fentanyl pills
  • 103 percocet pills

State police reportedly seized 15 firearms, valued at $7,500.

Troopers also received 12 new human trafficking tips, bringing the total to 1,209 in just one week. There are 219 cases either being investigated or currently under investigation by authorities, as well as 3,230 individual investigative activities underway, according to Virginia State Police.
