Nearly 3,000 Central Virginia homes, businesses without power as storms hit
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly 3,000 Central Virginia homes and businesses are without power Tuesday evening as severe storms batter the region.
Severe storms hit Central Virginia on Tuesday, July 1, bringing high-speed winds and heavy downpours to the area. As a result of those storms, thousands of residents lost power.
As of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, about 2,719 Dominion Energy customers in Central Virginia have no power. This includes outages in the following localities:
- Chesterfield County: 2,048 homes and businesses without power
- Powhatan County: 316 homes and businesses without power
- Goochland County: 238 homes and businesses without power
- Henrico County: 117 homes and businesses without power
